Welcome back! In case you've noticed, we've been offline for a while now. We've been busy testing our course content, building new functionality into our portal to name just a few items. So let's start where we left off. In my last post we looked at "Integration and Scope Management". If you missed it, you can still read it here.
This week I look at Time and Cost Management. We've all heard the phrase "time is money and money is time". In today's tight economic landscape we're all more than ever pulling on, what seems to be, both ends of this stick. So what can we do about this? One method I recommend is to focus on the customer. If one looks at how you manage your projects and you ask yourself "Does this benefit my customers in the long run, if we cut corners in the short term?". Most often we can and should say 'no'.
Unfortunately, all too often we don't answer that question. Instead, we close our eyes and hope for the best. Some of us, dare I say, even believe that it will be "someone else's" problem by then. That's really too bad. Too bad because the level of short sightedness here is simply astronomical in scale. Let me explain.
